WebI'm with you. I've only read Consider Phlebas, but I don't get what the awe is over. The idea of the culture is pretty cool as a huge, futuristic society. But the book suffered from 1-dimensional characters and the plot wasn't amazing. I read a lot of other sci-fi and usually the ideas are bigger than the characters.
