On the other hand, it sounds like you'd have to sink some money into rebuilding those Vortec heads as well. This is just my opinion: I think that there are much better aluminum heads out there that will outperform either of the iron heads.

WebAug 4, 2006 · You could probably expect 30-40 HP just by switching to Vortec or any of the popular after market heads like Dart Iron eagles, Edelbrock Performer RPM, etc. New chamber designs, port shapes will blow away the 882's in my opinion. WebJul 18, 2006 · According to Chevy High Performance the Dart Iron Eagle SS 165 heads flow worse than the 882's but the combustion chamber size will probably work with your combo. Vortec heads flow the best of the bunch but with the small combustion chambers the compression ratio would be way to high. flip up table for rv
