According to the 2001 census it had a population of 161 in 63 households. The population had increased to 249 at the 2011 census. The village is about three miles north northeast of Tadcaster . WebThe Hall dates from the second half of the 18th century by an unknown architect and was owned by Mildred Bourchier until 1796, a wealthy widow. However it was the owner from 1806, John William Clough, who largely created the landscape we see today.
